About this class

Whether you've always dreamed of playing guitar or just picked one up and don't know where to start, this 12-session beginner course gives you everything you need to go from total newcomer to confident player. Each live, interactive session builds on the last, guiding you step-by-step through the essential skills that every guitarist needs. You'll start with the very basics — how to hold the guitar, tune it, and produce your first clean notes — and progressively work your way through foundational chords, strumming patterns, chord transitions, and simple melodies. By the end of the course, you'll be playing recognizable songs you actually love, not just boring exercises. This course is designed for real beginners, so nothing is assumed. Every concept is explained clearly, demonstrated live, and practiced together in a supportive group setting. You'll receive personalized feedback from your instructor in every session, and you'll have fun doing it. Our small class size ensures you're never lost in the crowd. By the final session, you'll have built a solid technical foundation, developed good practice habits, and gained the confidence to keep learning on your own long after the course ends. This isn't just a class — it's the beginning of a lifelong musical journey.

What we'll do

  • Live posture and hand position check using student cameras — instructor provides real-time correction on-screen
  • Call-and-response melody learning: instructor plays a short phrase, students repeat immediately
  • Group strum-along with instructor counting aloud and keeping time — all students play simultaneously
  • Chord formation check: students hold up guitar to camera so instructor can assess finger placement
  • Slow-motion chord transition drills with metronome — instructor increases BPM incrementally as students improve
  • Ghost strumming exercise: students practice strumming motion in the air before applying to chords
  • String-by-string chord check: students pluck each string individually within a chord to identify muted or buzzing strings
  • Mini-performance at course end: each student plays one song for instructor feedback
  • Troubleshooting circles: students describe what they hear (buzzing, muting, timing issues) and instructor guides fixes live
  • Guided song play-along: instructor performs with students, leading count-ins and calling out chord changes in real time

Practical Project

My First Song Performance

Over the course of the 12-session curriculum, learners will work toward performing a complete beginner-friendly song of their choice (from an approved list) using correct posture, proper chord transitions, steady strumming, and basic rhythm. This capstone project brings together all skills developed throughout the course.

Expected result: A live or recorded performance of a complete beginner song demonstrating: correct guitar posture and hand position, at least 3 open chords played cleanly, smooth chord transitions within the song's tempo, a consistent strumming pattern, and the ability to stay roughly in time with a simple backing track or metronome.
