About this class

Artificial intelligence is reshaping the world around us — from the apps on your phone to the way businesses make decisions — yet most people feel left behind, unsure where to start or who to trust. This course was designed to change that. In 12 live, interactive sessions, you will move from complete beginner to confident AI user, building practical skills step by step in a supportive, judgment-free environment. You will start by truly understanding what AI is (and what it isn't), explore the most useful AI tools available today, and get hands-on practice using them for real-life tasks like writing, research, image creation, and problem-solving. You will also learn the critical skill of verifying AI outputs — knowing when to trust AI, when to question it, and how to fact-check and refine results. By the final session, you will bring everything together to create an original AI-assisted project you can be proud of. This course goes beyond passive watching. Every session includes live demonstrations, guided practice, and interactive activities so you can apply what you learn immediately. Whether you want to use AI at work, at home, for creative projects, or simply to stay informed in a rapidly changing world, this course gives you the foundation, the confidence, and the hands-on experience to do it. No technical background is required — just curiosity and a willingness to explore. Join a community of fellow beginners and discover that AI really is for everyone.

What we'll do

  • Live AI demonstrations with instructor narration — instructor completes real tasks using AI tools in real time while explaining each decision, allowing learners to observe and ask questions before trying themselves.
  • Prompt makeover workshops — learners receive weak or vague prompts and collaboratively rewrite them using structured frameworks, then test the improved versions live and compare outputs.
  • Hallucination hunts — instructor or learners generate AI content containing deliberate or naturally occurring errors, and the group races to identify inaccuracies using fact-checking strategies.
  • Peer gallery shares — learners post AI-generated outputs (text, images, or project work) to a shared digital board and give structured feedback to one another using simple criteria.
  • Real-task live labs — learners bring an actual task from their own life or work and complete it using AI tools during the session, with instructor support and group problem-solving available.
  • Ethics scenario workshops — learners receive cards describing AI use situations and must debate and decide whether each is ethical, applying criteria they have developed across the course.
  • Before-and-after showcases — learners share both the raw AI output and their edited or humanized final version, explaining what they changed and why, to reinforce the human-AI collaboration mindset.

Practical Project

My AI Toolkit: A Personal AI Use Case Portfolio

Over the course of the 12 sessions, learners will build a personal portfolio documenting their hands-on exploration and use of AI tools across multiple real-world scenarios. The portfolio serves as both a learning artifact and a practical reference they can continue using after the course ends.

Expected result: A completed AI Use Case Portfolio containing 10+ session entries plus a final case study and demo showing how the learner applied AI tools to solve a real problem or achieve a personal/professional goal. Learners will leave with a tangible artifact demonstrating their AI literacy and practical skills.

What you'll need

  • Personal portfolio document (provided as a downloadable template — Google Slides, Notion, or Word/PDF format — at the start of Session 1)
  • Session-by-session AI Tool Exploration Worksheet (one per session, provided as a fillable PDF or Google Form)
  • Curated AI Tools Reference Sheet listing all tools covered in the course with links, free tier availability, and a brief description (provided in Session 1, updated at Session 7)
  • Prompt Engineering Cheat Sheet covering prompt structure, tips for iteration, and common pitfalls (provided in Session 4)
  • AI Ethics Scenario Cards used in the Session 10 discussion activity (provided as a printable or digital card deck)
  • Peer Feedback Rubric for the Session 9 peer review exercise (one page, provided before Session 9)
  • Final Project Brief & Evaluation Rubric (provided at Session 1 so learners understand expectations from day one, revisited at Session 7)
  • No prior experience required — all materials are beginner-friendly and no technical background is assumed
